Shifting and putting things around the bike...

I had a few things in mind to do on my bike. One of the earliest was to shift the scottoiler from my underseat to undertank. Maverik taught me how to do it and even offered me a bracket for it.

The other thing was to mesh up my rear cowl holes. I bought some mesh wires to mesh up my radiator and had spares left. I always wanted to mesh up those holes ever since i saw people doing it. I was going to remove my rear cowl to shift my scottoiler today and decide to mesh up those holes at the same time.....

Finally the scottoiler is dry and i could shift it witouth dripping those expensive lubricants.....

There, nicely mesh up.....

Some other things that i saw Maverik had done on his bike was to mesh up the sawed portion of his hugger. I didn't want to remove my hugger since i took a long time fastening it the last time. I also didnt want to saw portion off my hugger as i do not have the tools to do so. Lastly, I got no more mesh wire as I gave the rest to Alan for his radiator.

Everything took me almost 4 hours coz some things cock up, if u want to know what stupid thing happen to me, please ask me directly coz i dun wan to put them in my blog.....

thanks ;)

News of Marcus's Duc Crashing into a GSX's Rear fatally

Was back from Penang not long ago when I've notice the news of a fatal accident happed in Pasir Gudang. At first I didnt know who it was until Charlie asked if I could take part in the funeral convoy.

I knew Marcus in person at Pasir Gudang in June 07, only barely noticing him, all i know was that, he was in a red duc and botak at that time.

Pics taken in June 07

Our group photo in Pasir Gudang, hes the red duc far left.

There were news of the incident for the past few days on how it crash. From "TODAY" to "Wan pao" to "Straits Times".

News of the incident.

In the forum, some closed friends had came out with a logo to stick on the bike in remembrance of Marcus. Small sticker were stick on the front mudguard of Marcus's friends' bikes. I tot the sticker couldn't be made in time, so i had printed out some on paper to stick on the windshield.

At the funeral, friends of Marcus came to form a bike convoy to send him to Mandai crematorium. It was the last ride with Marcus from his house to Mandai....

Rest in peace Marcus, though I hardly know u and met u only once. Will save a space for u in my heart too..... Goodbye fellow biker, continue ur endless ride in the heavenly tracks.....

Penang Island, Here we come...... Starting Part

Touring to Penang Island - 20 Dec 2007 0630hrs - 23 Dec 2007 1630hrs

Since the post will be a long one, will be splitting it into 2 parts.

Riders :
Jason & Jean, Busa w Touring Project
Charlie & Avril Busa w Touring Project
Alan & Carine Fazer 1k

Driver :
Damian and Sarah

Total Mileage for entire Penang trip: 1570.1km
From GP Petronas to last day of Penang : 846.2km
From Penang to GP Petronas : 723.9km

Few months back, Charlie and Damian was thinking of organizing a trip to Penang and stay in Damian's Parent's apartment. Since that, all of us had been looking at the calender to find an appropriate dates to take leave for the trip.

With the our touring project completed, its easier to pack our stuffs for the trip, jean has her box and I had mine, an additional tank bag for extra shopping stuff ;)

The move off time from GP Petronas is 0630hrs, hence everyone woke up very early. Jean and I set our alarm at 4am and by 6am, we were waiting at Petronas. Without any breakfast, we had milo to keep our stomach from groaning.....

Arriving early at start point and had milo....
With my Touring project completed, its time to test it out at full throttle....

Alan & Carine were the second bike to arrive, followed by Charlie & Avril in their busa and Damian & Sarah in their "little red car" :) All geared up and set off, bikes and car on different pace. Thats because the little red car could hit 400km none stop be4 gassing up but our 2-wheels could only hit 200km.

We make a quick stops to top-up petrol, Later we arrive at a major R&R to have our breakfast, a short brief on the trips ahead to decide on the next topping up point and meeting point with the red car.

Well, big bikes had to park in big lots....
The fried rice is great and coffee is thick... i love it...

Driver briefing with rider while passenger briefing with the pillion....
Once eating & briefing is done, geared up and move off......

The next few hundred kilometers is a bit of a disturbance, the dark clouds formed and dissappeared, rain came and left, got heavier, blurring our vision and sometimes light to a drizzle. In the end it seems like the rain was chasing us. In the beginning, we had to stop to put on additional rain gears as our touring suits were partially waterproof.

If u think the rain was bad enough, we had Mini Cooper Sports chasing us in their own convoy, somecame close and looked as if to challenge us on pick-ups, but 4-wheeled vs 2 wheeled.... the heavier one is almost always on the loosing end. Anyway, we were all mature enuff to know its some kinda fun and later thumbs up to each other after the thrills.... No hard feelings at all....

If u think the ugly side of mother nature and being chased by coopers were even worst than all the others we encountered, we then we had a major jam with almost 2-4 km long in 2 lane highway moving and stopping as if going thru a car park barrier. We bikes had to squeeze in between lanes of cars making sure not to hit any car's mirror so we could move ahead if others. The worst part in this situation is the pain of the clutch control.....
Riders will know what i mean.... shakie left hands later....

The rain was so heavy we had to stop at a petrol station to take shelter,
at the same time gassing up and had small bites and drinks...

The sun begin to shine once more, put on our gears and head for the highway again. The rain didnt bother us anymore. We stopped at 2 more station be4 finally hitting the Penang Island Bridge.

On the second station, we met the drivers of those the cooper on the chase previously, their sport were super charged, and their engine tuned up.... a man spoke to me, his cooper S could hit a top speed of approx 240km/hr. wah! No idea how fast the other coopers S were, Busa could hit 340+km/hr ever recorded , mine could only hit 300km/hr stock as shown on my dial visually. We bid our good byes and continue with our trip.

Upon crossing the Penang Bridge, there were more jam due to holiday. We had to squeeze our way into the island and find our way to Damian's apartment at "Teban Leader", i think it meant Leader Garden in Malay.

With to many turns on the roads ahead, Charlie made a wrong turn, we ended up going in circles until we stop at Shell petrol station to get our bearings right. Will looking at the map, an old lady in her late 50s dressed like a begger holding on to her worn off bicycle approach us and asked if we were lost, she wanted to provide some directions. And all the time, she was speaking in very fluent English... I was like, speechless starting at her, her appearance doesnt fit the way she speaks...... OMG lol...

With the help of the old lady, we've finally arrive near Damian's apartment. Damian hasen't reach and he is going to be late as he was caught in the same jams earlier that we had faced. Everyone's getting hungry and decided to eat at a nearby coffee shop while waiting for the little red car.

We were so tired and hungry that we quickly took off our gears and immediately order some food, While waiting for food, we sat tiredly staring in mid air.... just like zombies haha...

Alan finding his tou-fu had a fishy smell.
Jean and I had fish & chips and pork chop.
The food were rather tasty, or were we too hungry?

The moment Damian arrive, it started to rain heavily again, was the rain chasing us quietly or Damian brought the rain along lol... Well its December, cant expect a sunny trip.....
After our meal, we let the ladies in the car while we man sacrifice ourselves by riding in the rain to the nearby apartment.

At the apartment, we were so busy handing our suits to dry and boots to air, all took turns to bath and later gather at the living room to talked about the trip earlier.

With nothing much to do and no idea what's in Penang island, Charlie called up a friend staying in Penang to ask if he could help in showing us around. His friend, Kuma, agree and even took the effort to come to the apartment to discuss on tomorrow's plans. After plans were made, stomach got empty again.... Everyone agree on ordering Pizza as nobody wanted to leave the comfy apartment.

Suits on the celling, Gloves on the windows, helmet on the tables and shoes and boxes on the floor... thats about all in gearing down.

Jean had brough assignment while Avril had homework, they had much work but wanted to come along for the fun, so they decided on playing and studying at the same time....

Once the pizza arrived, everyone dig into the cheesy triangles, the boxes were emptied within 20 minutes or so...
Jean with her full stomach love the cheesy topping so much that she stuff the toppings and left the bread uneaten... BAD GIRL!!!! u know in south America how many hungry people....blah...blah...blah....

Everyone turn-in early after the meal so we could wake up around 8am for breakfast tomorrow. When I woke up, I heard some water gushing sound and rush to the windows to see where was that sound coming from. There was a mini waterfall just behind the apartment. What a nice view, so I took charlie's camera to take some close shots.... I found more of those nice scenery from other bed room windows and had capture them too.

Nice scenery at the back of the apartment.

Some nice view of the sea side...

We took a lift down and found ourselves a beautiful swimming pool, since all the ladies were smartly dressed for the morning, they deserve some nice snap by the pool.

Sweet ladies.... they sure know how to dress to make known their are friends...
see their shirts.... gifts from Avril...

We left the apartment and took a walk to the market to have our breakfast, on the way, spotted some school bus in Penang Island, they were parked outside a school. Further out, I could see a clearer view of our apartment, it has a shape of a thick pencil because of its pointed roof.

It says "BAS SE-Ko Lah"

A View of the thick pencil apartment

Upon reaching the market place, I could smell some foul odor of dead chicken, damn stinko, worst than those in Singapore market. We went inside the hawker, more than half of the stalls were closed, maybe because its their holiday.

The nearby market from our apartment.

After scouting around, Jean decide to have pork mee soup while I ordered fried wan ton mee dry. The coffee here is nice too, Malaysian make good coffee c.

We were having a good time chatting and eating

Some of the tasty breakfast..... everything taste nice...

While walking back to our apartment, we came across a cake shop. Everyone seems so eager to get in to buy something, just like some kids stumbling across a cake shop. The X'mas decoration inside the shop was beautiful, the variety of cakes, cookies and ice-creams sent the ladies browsing shelf after shelf, trays after trays..... everyone bought something for themselves.

HAPPY KIDS...

Kids's Ice creams, Kids's cookies, Kids's cakes, Kids's pastries, Kids's everywhere!!!

Once the kids were contented, we head back to our apartment. On the way, we make sure our bikes were locked up properly, then head up to take a rest, the next plan was to shop at Plaza Gurney.

We make sure our bikes we damn bloody well locked, see this busa... lock to a drain grill and then to a "big" tree.... "super double safety"... hahahhahahaha

Suffering aches from the previous day's long ride, Avril decided to give Charlie and back step, not "not back stab" lol. While Alan need 2 ladies to do his traditional Thai back grip. Everyone was doing something while waiting for 2pm, the shopping trip.

Good massage!! ladies.

Was doing some make up while chatting and got caught in the act...

It was time to set off. I notice a play ground beside the apartment, it was empty and somehow, I felt like going over to just play a little. While walking out to catch a taxi, there is a push cart stall selling fried stuff. It sure smell nice and we all bought something to eat.

Sure bring back some old memories

Ohh!! Ohh, this stall selling fried stuff taste real good!!
I love the fried tapioca and banana ball.

Yum yum... Some idiot told us here got bus, but we waited so long and end up taking taxi.

The taxis in Malaysia are famous for "Meter spoil" and charging by a fixed amount of fare. Anyway, the trip to Plaza Gurney is RM$15. Every couple split at the shopping center to do their own shopping. Jean was enjoying herself and she was hopping to get some shoes in this trip, later, she got a pair. I was happy but no so happy as my pockets were burning slowly.....

Nice deco at the Shopping centre.

Her window shopping and her shoes

Will continue the rest of the trip in the next post, I will arrange the next post of this Penang trip to be below this post.

Penang Island Here we come...... Final Part

Continue from the previous post........

Kuma came along to the shopping center so he could show us around. After shopping, we all met at Dome restaurant and left for the " AnJung Gurney" Hawker. This place looks like a mini "Newton Circus" in Singapore. Extremely crowded and lotsa Stall. The drinks hawker here seems to have war with one another, pulling customers to different sides and their tables had stickers of their stall, other stall's drinks weren't allowed on their tables. We all found ourselves 2 different drinks stall tables to combine and had some problem ordering drinks at first, but we were left alone later.

Most of the guys left to order foods, we all brought back different variety of food, they were named similar to those in Singapore, just that they were cooked in different way. Overall, the food were really very tasty!! nothing to complain at all.

Jean and I came to a certain stall that had sticks of raw food placed all over, it had a few pots of boiling soup to dip in with the raw food. The food were then cooked and eaten on the spot, payment to be made when we decide to leave, we had a few stick and the food were very tasty and delicious.

The AnJung Gurney Hawker

All the different stalls with variety of foods

The food here look simple but the taste was of a different level...
The fried kuay teow, fried oyster omelette, satay tasted different from Singapore

Panang's Asam Laska isnt spicy at all and tasted delicious
The "Lok Lok" stall selling raw food to dip in boiling soup, just like a mobile steam boat.

Before leaving the hawker, Kuma told us that a certain stall selling snacks and biscuits had this certain brand "Tau Sar" bun that is extremely tasty unlike those normally sold elsewhere.
We bought some...

The stall that sells a tasty brand "Tau Sar" bun,
Everyone bought some....

With bags of shopping stuff, we headed back to our apartment to put down our things and wash up a little before setting off to the night bazaar. It was a very direct stright path towards the bazaar from out apartment, not complicated at all.

We rode to the night bazaar and parked in front of Kuma's friend's shop. Kuma then brought us around the bazaar showing us different kinda stuff and helped us see if the things we were going to buy is worth or being chopped. Jean & I bought some stuff for our new house and for her parents as well.

Stalls were set up along road sides similar to Singapore's "Pasar Malam" but the stuff sold here is definitely different, 1 of the most obvious is the pirated medias. We seems to walk endlessly around the night bazaar and had to rest in a sea food restaurant along the way viewing the sea creature in the display tanks.

Jean just love looking at stuff here.....

Alan and I got very bored and tired and nothing to do and dun wanna walk, we start getting reckless..... we just walk n walk n walk n walk while the girls see n see n see n see... and later buy.... :(

The sea food Village, the entrance on the left had displays of sea creatures to be selected for feasting....

Many many tanks, many many sea animals, many many hungry stomach want to eat many many of them.... But girls only want to look good n take photos.....

The walk was finally over and everyone agree on going home to rest for the next day's event, nothing much happen that night except a few light sleepers heard a big dog barking near-by..... opppssssss it was someone snoring...... whose the fat dog barking ? hehehe

On the very next morning, the boys had plans to tour around the island because Kuma said there were many nice views and winding roads that bikers would love to counter them. The ladies decided to sit comfortably in the little red car while the guys geared up to get ready for some action.

Riding around Penang near the city at peak hour is a little headache, there are so many cars and jams, some roads were 1 laned. Bikers with big bikes just hate those. I must admit the hill top views were very relaxing and the path was a never ending windings. By the time we rest at a dam/reservoir, we counted as if we had countered 999 corners already....

Ladies, always looking good for photo taking.... comfortably sitting in the car.

Riding around to get to the hill pass and some seasides....

We came to a petrol station so we could use the rest room, at the same time, pump some air into the tyres.

Around the hills.... there were many nice views but no place to stop to take pics...
but there is time for video!!

At the dam/reservoir, the view is really nice, we just had to take some shots....

Jean & I and our "Babe"

Using Charlie's camera..... beautiful....

A Snap of babe

Nice view around ......

After having enuff of viewing and photo taking, its time to fill our stomach once more, the winding roads had push all the breakfast right to the bottom and nothing is left on top... Riding straight ahead took us back to the place where the night bazaar was held, there we notice a large ship that is not meant for sailing but to eat in...

The interior looks just like the inside of a ship, the tables, however were all placed for dinning in, the waiters dressed as sailors too..... but they couldn't speak proper English... lol

The food just look yummy, the snails, steak, salmon and seafood all taste good and unlike the way it was cook in Singapore.
Jean had pan fried salmon while I had beef steak with mushroom in mushroom sauce. Delicious~~

X'mas dining photo.....

With swollen bellies, we walk behind the ship and found ourselves a very nice view of a seaside. There were many activities going on, out of nowhere an " ah-neh prince charming in black" rode along and asked if we wanna take photos of his horse.....for $20. Feel like kicking him in his face....

Various seasports in Penang island

Jean & I just love the seaside, when I first met her, I often took her to seasides chatting and enjoying the waves and sea breeze......sometimes, watching aircraft flying past too...

A group photo.... opsss , i was blocking someone hehe...

The girls went for pedi/manicure while 3 guys rode their beast back home in the winding roads. Back at the apartment, Alan and Charlie went to the water fall and did all kinds of stupid things there. While I'm stuck to the show DIE HARD 4 the moment it was played.

When all had returned, Kuma came along and brought us "APLINESTAR POUCHES" it wasn't sold anyway in Singapore and it looks kinda cool! Jean and the girls were complaining the pedi/manicure was too ex and looked too plain haha. Later we cut the watermelon into half that Charlie had bought the day be4. It was sweet and juicy, since the weather was rather hot, it was nice to eat watermelon.

Very nice AlpineStar Pouch.....

See!! Looks good on us!!

Watermelon that Charlie bought while shopping at Plaza Kurney.

Kuma left early and we made our way down to a nearby mini open air restaurant for some seafood. Little did we realise the crabs were all sold out until we ordered the food and had our drinks drank half-way. Well too late to change to another restaurant, the only seafood we had was prawns.

Water Fall photos finally uploaded!!

Beautiful isn't it?

Is he wearing underwear? haha

Is he even wearing anything below at all ?? lol!!

Some restaurant.... never miss a meal without the green bottle.... hehe just joking...

We all went back after eating to pack our luggages as we had to leave very early in the morning the next day so we can reached Singapore before night fall. The packing was easy with 3 luggages. I love to get my things ready early, so I had removed my jackets this afternoon and hung them in my bedroom, my raincoat were packed the day before. Thats the way Jean and I love to had our things done.

The following morning was a little busy, we had to clean up Damian's apartment coz we were allowed to use it for free. The cost to stay in a hotel in Penang is not cheap. Therefore we didnt really spend much on this trip except fueling the bike. Damian & Sarah had to pay an extra RM$200 for the TOL all the way from Singapore to Penang and back to Singapore.

We got on our bikes, the mileage clocked since day 1 was 840++. As we rode along the bridge, Charlie stopped us so we could take some pic at the beautiful Penang bridge, I read somewhere that Penang bridge is the 3rd longest in the world. The sun rise was so beautiful that Jean took pictures of it.

Getting ready to ride back to Singapore

Beautiful Penang Bridge, that how Penang is connected to Malaysia.

The beautiful Sunrise that Jean took

Along the way back, we came to a major R & R Tapah, there were donuts and ice cream, but we were in a little rush and too tired to have them. We went to the food court to have some regular local food.

Yummy, that way it looks...

Stopping to have a break and some bites....

After breakfast, we made another stop at Ayer Kerok for some ice cream wafer's at A & W. For the rest of the journey, we only need to make 1 stop but we made 2 so that we could have enough rest before finally reaching GP Petronas.

The trip back wasn't as difficult as the trip to Penang. There weren't much cars on the road and it was sunny all the way. We took almost 12 hours to reach Penang but it only took us 9 hours to reach Singapore.

Finally reaching GP Petronas all in 1 piece..... Safe n sound, and of coz enjoying every bit of it....

END of Dec 07 Penang post........
