Badly worn gloves.

Since the last time I posted on these glove Jean had bought for me. LINK

It slowly worn further thru the months, and now, its in no condition to protect my hands any more. I really love the glove, been wearing it all the time whenever I rode my bike, even if its just for short trips, I'll have them on. Coz my wife bought them just so that it could protect me.

The last time I posted these pics were in Aug last year, they were already worn then.

Since the last time I washed them, it became so brittle that I dare not wash anymore fearing the material will give way anytime. But this afternoon, they just wont hold anymore they expose themselves, stretched and let themselves loose.......

Sadly! A "Burst"
& a torn velco that had been sew back many times...

Tiny holes here and there.

Now, I would have to put on those full gloves while I look for another set of short glove.

2 way Switch for a 3 way fan system.

I'm at Mac again, accompanying Jean while she study for her Exam.

As usual, making use of the free internet. With nothing to do, I started thinking what if I were to add a switch to the Dual fan system, how would I wanted it to work.

I drew here and drew there and came out with a way that I would most likely want it to function.
Using a 2 way switch for a 3 way function.

Swtich 1 will turn on Both fan.
Switch 0 will activate only the stock fan when the Temp. sensor trigger.
Switch 2 will activate both fan when the Temp. sensor trigger.

If there were a switch 3, most likely its to activate the 2nd fan alone manually.
The method would be : 2nd fan will have its return point connected to a common ground and a direct current from battery. But more than 1 connection point is needed to use this function along with the other function.

Wiring up the fan. Why the 2nd fan keep running.

I want to fix up the second fan myself but the header/extractor is blocking my clearance to mount up the fan. Since I was going to get Kenny to replace my oil pan. Might as well get him to fix up the fan.

This is a pic of a suzuki 1000 k3/4 fan as 2nd fan,
taken from hayabusa.org.
The bottom left is sharing the same point with the stock fan,
The bottom right needs a bracket coz its too short,
The top is sharing with the radiator mounting point.
In general, get the wire mesh facing down.

My purpose was to have the 2nd fan dependent on the stock fan to turn on. Which means when the stock fan turns on, it will trigger the relay for 2nd fan to turn on. Kenny seems to have a problem, he told me that the stock fan has a constant 12volt supplying and he did not understand why.
Following my method will keep the 2nd fan running all the time. After half a day of attempt, he gave up and add a switch point so I could turn it off whenever I wanted to.

Circuit diagram of the fan.
Kept going over and over but nothing seems wrong.

After 1 week of monitoring my house renovation. I've finally had the time today to reroute the fan's wire. I tried my method, 2nd fan's relay dependent on the first fan's current, 2nd fan current directly from battery. However, the 2nd fan still run immediately when the relay was connected to the first fan. I can't believe that my method was wrong but I finally gave up and ask some guys for advise.

In the end the answer was, The positive wire for the stock fan was a constant supply however why it did not run was because the grounding wire was not "close". No ground = no return path = OFF mode. Why the 2nd fan was turned on was because the return path was connected to a common ground, that grounding path was "close" all the time!!
:dot:

After thinking the whole thing for a while, nothing would have gone wrong if I didn't add a relay. Without the relay, I would have tap the current and grounddirectly from the stock fan.

Messy wires for the fan.
I had a 10A fuse there directly from the battery to the 2nd fan.

Top of fan sharing mounting point with radiator.

Inner mounting point sharing with stock fan.

Outer mounting point need a bracket.

Before

And after.

Tested for overheat, when both fan first trigger, heat was brought down in 10 seconds when fans stops, 2nd time, 16 seconds.

The Three "J"s of my Hayabusa.

Jack, Johnsen and Jason.

These were the 3 owners of my GSX1300R K3 Limited Edition Mid Night Black Hayabusa.

Met Jeffery today at 123 Bike and his friend told me he knew the owner of my bike. His name was Jack. While on my way home the same night. I went to AMK Mobil to pump some air pressure to my tyres and a Malay guy was doing the same to his Scram.

He was mumbling something with his full face helmet on, I asked him to repeat again and he said: "This used to be my bike" OMG, I asked him if his name was Jack and he said yes.

It was such a coincident to learn the first owner's name and see him in real person in the same day. We chat a little and learn that my babe had been to and beat a fierce R1 in SEPANG!! Attempting the track and corners in Sepang was one my goal!! Was so evny that the first owner of my bike actually did it already!!

Obey Torque loading.......... (Drain Oil Nut)

When I started doing my own EO change. I tot I could save some money in the long run on buying EO from dealers and saving on labour. Little did I realise I had to spend a bomb due to a silly mistake...........

Since I was an Aircraft Technician, I tot torque loading applies to aircraft since its such a critical piece of kite...... (Read somewhere: taking off speed for F5 Fighter plane is close to 290km/hr) My Busa can run faster.....

I started changing my EO last year, always tightening the bolt as tight as I could, coz I was always afraid of it loosening during those insane speed...... Little did I know I was damaging the thread more. My last EO change was the trial "Royal Purple" that I wanted to gives some reviews.

A week after that"Royal Purple" EO change, oil started dripping from the drain bolt. It was always wet whenever I wipe it and tighten somemore(big mistake), after 2 attempts, I knew something was very wrong and I brought it to the bike shop. The mechanic told me either the bolt thread is gone, or the oil pan drain sum thread is gone. We discussed and decided to drain it out to take a look at the bolt's thread ............................................ removed and inspect .................................... it was 'OK' Which means I have to replace the more expensive one . Itchy backside me.....

Torque loading for Oil drain plug 23N-m / 2.3 kgf-m / 16.5 lb-ft.
For those who can't affort a torque wrench/limiting driver/(whatever u call it),
How tight? (Hand tighten and 1/4 more turn)

Gsx1000R K5 Fan arrived on 08 May 2008

I managed to get hold of another good deal from ebay thanks to Andrew. The seller agreed to my offer and I paid USD$15 for the fan. Within a week, the fan I bought from eBay had arrived. Now I need to find some time to get relay, fuse and maybe a switch before I get it fixed up.

Dual fan system for busa

Since riding in Haytai. I came to know how near my balls were becoming BBQed by the heat from my bike. The fan was like running none stop the moment it started. The same thing happened when I was riding in Penang and the worst was queueing up on an up-slope at woodlands check point.

I knew this mod had to be done sooner or later, I was asking and hunting around for a secondary fan. I was told most of the GSXR series fan could be used, like the 650,700,1000 and last but not least, 1300 hayabusa.

I had been looking for a good deal from Ebay and the best one was "USD$9.50 startbid" "USD$23 buy now" GSX1000R 07-08 fan, but my luck ran out when the seller WON'T ship it to Singapore. My next best deal was a "USD$32.99 buy now" GSX1300R fan. Right now I'm still waiting for some replies from sellers.

Hopefully my dual fan mod will be complete before the next Hatyai trip in early June. BBQ balls aren't funny
